Your Home's Appearance It’s a competitive world in real estate especially when there are more homes on the market for sale. Sellers must take a hard look at their property and ask themselves how to make their property stand out among so many competing homes. The first thing to do is walk across the street and look at your home. Curb appeal is crucial in drawing in potential buyers. Can you touch up around the doorway and clean up the yard? Very basic things can greatly improve the appearance. Once you come through the door make sure there is no clutter! Dont leave shoes, coats, umbrellas or other items by the door. As you go through your home, if you have dark and heavy curtains or window treatments, replace them with simple white curtains that will let all the light in. A bright home will show very well. Organize all the closets and storage areas around the home. Maybe it’s time to pack some of the unused items and store them away. If you have a busy family or pets, the floors may need to be cleaned or re finished. If the carpets are stained and worn, you should consider replacing them before you show the home. When the floors sparkle you’ll see the potential buyers eyes sparkle also! Appearance is key in maximizing your investment and getting the highest price possible for your home. It does take work but the payoff is well worth the pain and suffering!
